My Teaching Journey

English 1120 Syllabus

This syllabus and schedule is the guide for my English 1120 class, which is more focused on getting students to work with more academic texts and write in academic genres like annotated bibliographies and research proposals.

English 1100 Assignment Sheet

This example assignment sheet is for the final project of ENGL 1100, which I modified to fit the theme of my class. As the theme of the class was technology, and we often used writing about social media in the class, I decided to have students play with the idea of multimodality and social media as a genre. To do so, I asked students to transform their final, persuasive essay into a social media post of their choosing.

Student Example: Final Project

One of my students (whose name and identifying factors have been removed) consented to allowing their work to appear on my portfolio website. This student example is responding to the assignment sheet I have also posted (see left), which essentially asks students to transform their persuasive essay into a social media post.

Tutoring Observation

I have included a copy of an observation during my time at Auburn's MWC. While in classroom observations are important, I also wanted to highlight my experience with working with students in a one-on-one environment. This observation was conducted by Dr. Amy Cicchino, who is the Associate Director of University Writing.

Student Evaluations

Here I have included the copies of my evaluations from both of my sections of English 1100 that I taught in the Fall of 2021. From these, I learned that my biggest strength is making students feel comfortable in the class and with the material, and that something I need to work on is creating more opportunities for students to collaborate with each other.
